Tree risk and safety, assessed properly

A focused practice built around tree condition, risk and the statutory rules that protect trees, for clients across Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

01

Tree Condition & Risk Surveys

Our core service. A methodical assessment of your tree or trees, the defects present, and the level of risk they pose, using the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) approach.

What's included

Ground-level visual inspection
Using non-invasive equipment (probe, mallet and binoculars) to the standard appropriate to the brief.
QTRA risk quantification
Targets, size and probability of failure considered together to express risk in clear, defensible terms.
Written report & schedule
Findings, photographs, a tree schedule and prioritised management recommendations with reinspection timescales.
Plain English recommendations
Advice you can actually act on, whether that's no action, monitoring, or specific works.
02

TPO & Conservation Area Advice

Many trees are legally protected. We establish what applies to your site and guide you through doing the right thing, which avoids costly mistakes and potential prosecution.

Ask about protected trees

How we help

Protection check
We enquire with the local authority to confirm whether a TPO or Conservation Area designation applies.
What you can & can't do
Clear advice on the works permitted and the consents required before anything happens.
Application support
Help preparing and supporting applications for consent to carry out works to protected trees.
03

Tree Safety & Duty of Care

If the public can access your land, you have a duty to manage tree risk reasonably. We provide planned inspection programmes that keep people safe and evidence that you've taken reasonable care.

Ideal for

Schools & nurseries
GP surgeries & clinics
Estates & landowners
Councils & public land

Programmes are tailored to your site, with a recommended inspection frequency based on tree population and the level of public access.

04

Mortgage & Pre-purchase Reports

If a lender or surveyor has asked for a report on trees near a property, we can assess the trees and turn the report around quickly so your sale or mortgage stays on track.

What's included

Tree identification & condition
Species, size and health of the trees and their proximity to the building.
Soil & foundation considerations
An assessment of the influence the trees may have, taking soil type and distance into account.
A clear conclusion for your lender
A plain statement of the risk and any recommendations, written for a non-specialist to act on.
The method

Why QTRA?

QTRA moves tree safety away from simply labelling trees "safe" or "unsafe". Instead it quantifies the risk of harm, balancing safety against the value trees bring, so decisions are proportionate, defensible and based on established risk-management principles.

Questions

Frequently asked

How much does a tree survey cost?

It depends on the number of trees and the depth of assessment required. Tell us what you need and we'll provide a clear, fixed quote before any work begins, with no surprises.

Do I need a survey if my tree looks healthy?

Many serious defects aren't obvious from the ground to an untrained eye. If a tree could affect people or property, or you have a duty of care, a professional assessment gives you certainty and protects you.

How quickly can you turn a report around?

Most reports are delivered within a week of the survey. If your matter is urgent, such as a storm-damaged or visibly failing tree, let us know and we'll prioritise it.

Do you carry out the tree work too?

Our focus is independent assessment and advice. Where works are recommended we can guide you on what's needed and what to look for in a contractor, so the work is done to the right standard.

Ready to get started?
